Migration Directorate: how to file in practice

How to proceed in practice

  1. Ask in writing whether you need an appointment

    Since no online booking is described, write to migration@mvr.bg with your case (type of application, expiry date of your current document) and keep the answer.

  2. Find the unit near you

    Per the IISDA record, applications are accepted not only in Sofia but also at the migration units of regional Interior Ministry directorates. For Burgas (ODMVR, 46 Hristo Botev Street), the record lists (056) 856 391 for the Migration sector.

  3. Protect the deadline

    To extend residence, the application is due no later than 14 days before the permitted period or the type D visa expires; do not lose it while waiting for a slot.

Beware of intermediaries selling “appointments”

The official pages do not describe any paid service of this kind. You cannot verify their link to the authority; share personal data and documents only through official channels.

Frequently asked questions

Can I apply by email?

No. The service record says filing is in person; migration@mvr.bg is for suggestions and questions.

Must I go to Sofia?

Per the IISDA record, regional Interior Ministry directorates' migration units also accept applications. Check the working arrangements of the unit in your city with it directly.
