How to get a Bulgarian visa appointment

A Bulgarian visa is issued by the country's diplomatic and consular missions; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs page also lists visa application centres run by an external service provider in Turkey, but it gives no booking link. This is not legal advice; book through the official channel of the mission or centre.

This is not legal or financial advice

This page explains the process in general terms and points to the official sources of the competent authorities. For decisions specific to your own situation, consult a lawyer, an accountant or the relevant institution. Rules and amounts change over time.

What the official page says

  • Applications are filed no earlier than 3 months before the trip, in person or through an authorised agent (except humanitarian cases).
  • For a long-stay (type D) visa a personal interview is mandatory; no exception is made.
  • For minors and persons under judicial disability, legal representatives, trustees or expressly authorised persons apply.
  • The passport must be valid at least 3 months after the planned departure, have at least 2 blank pages and have been issued within the last 10 years.

Visa application centres in Turkey

The Ministry says that in some countries applications are accepted through visa application centres using an external provider. For Turkey the page lists Ankara, Antalya, Bursa, Diyarbakır, Edirne, Gaziantep, Istanbul (two entries), Izmir and Trabzon. For locations and terms it refers readers to the phones and websites of the respective Bulgarian missions.

  1. Decide the visa type and your jurisdiction

Work out whether you need a C (short-stay) or D (long-stay) visa and which centre or consulate covers you; a type D visa needs a personal interview.
  2. Book through the mission's channel

The page gives no booking link, so confirm the date on the website and by phone of the centre or the Bulgarian mission. Third-party sites do not replace the official channel.
  3. Prepare documents in time

A passport copy, a 3.5 × 4.5 cm photo, travel health insurance and documents for the purpose are requested; see our type C visa article for detail.

Fees are not refunded on refusal

The page states that fees collected are not refundable if a visa is refused. Filing with missing documents costs time and money; confirm the list with the mission before your slot.
