Driving school and exams in Bulgaria
To get a driving licence in Bulgaria you first train at a registered training centre (учебен център); the theory and practical exams are organised by the Executive Agency 'Automobile Administration' (ИА „Автомобилна администрация“). This article gives no course price or duration because we could not see them on an official page; it only explains the process and conditions.

Who trains and who examines
The Agency's Directorate for Motor Vehicle Drivers page keeps a register of training centres for candidates for driving qualification (Регистър на учебните центрове за обучение на кандидати за придобиване на правоспособност за управление на МПС). Check this register before choosing a centre. Exams are organised by the Agency; the theory question bank for categories AM, A, B, T, C, D and E is published on its site.
Conditions for enrolment and the exams
- To enrol and to sit the theory and practical exams you need a document showing at least basic education (основно образование).
- People who obtained a basic-education document before 26 September 2017 (or finished grade X under the old law) can apply for a driving licence (СУМПС) with that document.
- People who obtained a basic-education document after 26 September 2017 must complete the first stage of secondary school (grade X) to apply to the Ministry of Interior for the licence.
Exam fees and vouchers
According to the page, the fee for the practical exam is charged under Tariff No 5; a candidate can sit in a group declared by a training centre or formed by the Agency. The voucher (ваучер) for the practical exam is supplied to the candidate by the training centre, which buys it through the Agency's information system; for the theory exam the voucher value is paid to the Agency and the Agency supplies it to the candidate. We did not see the amounts in euro on the page; ask the Agency for current fees.
