Searching the Bulgarian commercial register

To check a company in Bulgaria you use the Commercial Register and Register of Non-Profit Legal Entities section of the Registry Agency's (Агенция по вписванията) EPZEU portal; under «References» in the English interface there is a search form for a natural person or legal entity. What follows describes what the pages show.

The portal and its sections

EPZEU is the united portal for electronic administrative services. In the Commercial Register section the menu includes «Home», «References» and «Electronic services». You can switch to the English interface in the portal's language option. The services list includes registration, changes in circumstances, issuance of certificates, announcement of acts and complaints against a refusal to register.

The search form

  • Under «References» there is a heading «Reference by natural person or legal entity».
  • The form has two tabs: «Person» and «Legal entity».
  • The input boxes are «Personal ID/Foreigner/Date of birth» and «Name».

Step by step

  1. Open the portal

    Open the Commercial Register «References» page and pick the legal entity tab.

  2. Enter the name in the right spelling

    Company names are recorded in Cyrillic; if nothing comes up, try the Cyrillic spelling and possible extra words. An empty result does not always mean there is no record (assumption).

  3. Tie the result to a document

    If you need a document for a bank, partner or court, look at the services under «Issuance of certificates»; for fees and timing the portal's own page applies.

  4. Check whether an account is needed

    The portal shows «Log in» and «Registration» links. Which searches work without an account can change; follow what the screen asks for.
